Lazy Sunday Afternoon

I love Sunday afternoon! It’s so laid back. I used to call Sundays “Can’t be ****ed Sunday” because it’s the best day of the week to do nothing. It’s a good day to plan the following week, and tidy up the week before.

It’s raining today, so it’s also been a good day to tidy up inside. I cleaned out empty boxes from my wardrobe (and recycled the paper stuff). And that’s about it! It’s Sunday after all!

Yesterday I was going to write a post so I’ll put it into this one as well, so here goes…

Transportation

Ever since I got my first car, and my restricted, I think my bike has been in the shed collecting dust. When I was at college (high school for the US readers), I used to bike EVERYWHERE! I didn’t have a car, and I did have a job, but biking was so convenient that I used to bike every day. To work, to mates places, to the movies, to get a pizza. The only times I’ve ridden my bike since getting a car is around the back yard, or to see the Christmas lights (it’s summer here then). I’m not a lazy person, but it’s more convenience, and we all do convenient because it seems easier.

So the reason for this post isn’t so much about my bike, but about walking. I was going to bike somewhere, and decided by the time I stuffed around with tidying up my bike, I could have walked to my destination, so I did. It was a good walk (only 10 minutes up the road), and I didn’t think much of it, except the weather was warm for once this winter. I do walk all the time as well, but it’s usually rushed from place to place, so more a power walk, this time it was a leisurely stroll. (Giggle!). On my way back it was a little cooler, and I was thinking… it’s really amazing what you see at 5km an hour, rather than 50! See we’re all used to driving everywhere, we just zoom past everything, and take it in at 50km/h, which is fine, except I noticed because I was walking 1/10th of that speed, I saw everything from a different vantage point. I live in a nice suburb, with nice houses, and tidy streets, and viewing it from the sidewalk, rather than the car, is completely different (you should really try walking somewhere you drive past all the time). I’m not writing to be all inspirational, but I was really something out of the norm for me, so I thought I’d share this non-geeky experience with everyone.

That’s about the end of my post, that’s about all I wanted to say. I have another techie post coming up about servers (I’m even planning some photos, shock horror).

Enjoy your Sunday Afternoon.
